Mastitis are hardened nipples, inability to nurse, inflammation of the nipple.

After a few days we noticed that Tina nipples and breasts were starting to harden, often called Mastitis.

We were given instructions from the Old English Sheepdog Club of Greater Seattle to get some regular black tea bags and soak them in warm water.

Then we put the tea bags on each nipple.  The tea draws out the infection and helps the nipple to become soft again.

It helped Tina.  She still did not have enough milk for all 9 puppies but did have milk for a couple of them.

I also must ad that if this doesn’t work or you are concerned about the severity, get your dog to the vet asap and bottle feed the babies.
